For a long time it has been said that the origin of the word Chiringuito, famous and international, associated with summer, the sun and the beach, comes from Sitges, believing that the first chiringuito in history is the one we find, still in full activity, in the middle of the Sitges promenade. It is one of the oldest, yes, but not the first.
It was inaugurated in 1913, with the name of "El Kiosket" and in 1949 it was renamed "El Chiringuito" and, although it is not the first, it is a true icon of Sitges, a must for lovers of good tapas in front of the sea.
