The Grape Harvest Festival celebrates its 65th edition this year on 2, 3 and 4 October, with a programme that recalls and highlights the traditional grape harvest in Sitges.

The 19th Wine Fair will be held from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening at Plaça de la Fragata.

Institutional visit and presentation of the Torres&Earth space

The Torres&Earth space is an educational space created by Familia Torres to raise awareness of the effects of climate change. It explains the impact of climate change on viticulture and the measures being taken to reduce its environmental footprint. It also presents sustainability and adaptation initiatives in the wine sector. The presentation will include an institutional visit.

Sitges Pubillatge Parade

Featuring the giantess Pubilla.

First Must Pressing

A traditional ceremony representing the first must of the harvest, which is later offered at the parish church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, as part of a ritual linked to the land, vineyards and Sitges’ winemaking tradition.

47th Grape Treading Competition

Representatives of different local organisations will recreate the historic tradition of the grape harvest by treading grapes with their feet to extract the must. This festive and symbolic activity provides an opportunity to connect with Sitges’ winemaking roots, celebrate local culture and highlight the importance of wine and vineyards as part of the town’s heritage. Local organisations will take part, along with the weighing of the Pubilla and Hereu of Sitges and their equivalent in wine.

Habanera Singing

Accompanied by Torres burnt brandy, the traditional Habanera singing performance by the group Xató will bring this year’s Grape Harvest Festival to a close.

The CIM is offering a special programme of activities throughout the weekend to mark the Grape Harvest Festival:

Saturday, 3 October

Open Day and Museum Visit

The Malvasia Interpretation Centre is an enotourism and experiential space at Celler de l’Hospital, dedicated to promoting knowledge of and the heritage value of vineyards and Sitges Malvasia wines. Located in the Corral de la Vila, an 18th-century livestock building, the CIM offers wine tourism experiences to discover that Sitges Malvasia is much more than a sweet wine.

Olor de Most – Special Grape Harvest Festival Edition

Guided tour through the streets of Sitges from the perspective of Sitges Malvasia. Discover the key places connected with wine culture in Sitges and learn about the celebration of this event, which has a history spanning more than 60 years. The tour starts at Plaça de l’Ajuntament and ends at the Malvasia Interpretation Centre.

Tickets cost €20 and can be purchased in Spanish or Catalan.
