We do not know it exactly, but what we know there is a document, found by Eduard Tomàs, that makes reference to this dance dated 1727. This finding places the oldest reference to the "ball de bastons" in Sitges in the regions de Garraf, Baix and Alt Penedès, while the annotation found becomes the
first documentary reference of popular dances in Sitges.

So the "Ball de Bastons" must be at least 300 years old.
