Did you know that the first fantastic film festival in the world was held in Sitges?
Yes, the famous International Fantàstic Film Festival of Catalonia held in Sitges is the first in the world and now it celebrates 50 years old.
Looking back and rummaging on its website (www.sitgesfilmfestival.com) we found the first poster (1968) that was created for the newborn Sitges film festival, directed by Pedro Serramalera and whose name was, at that time , International Week of Fantasy and Horror Film. The contest was held from September 28 to October 4, 1968 and was the beginning of a solid trajectory that has catapulted it as the world reference of fantastic cinema and a consolidated meeting point for lovers of this thematic.
Our congratulations to all those who, year after year, made it possible and we wholeheartedly wish to fulfill, at least, another 50 years.
