International Day Against LGBTI-phobia

The International Day Against LGBTI-phobia is commemorated on May 17th to remember that on this same day in 1990 the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses.

MAY 17th

- Popular walk for LGTBI+ visibility
Time: 10 am
Departure: Colors Sitges Link headquarters (Joan Tarrida Street 1. Sitges-Vilanova Roundabout)
Sports and protest walk towards the Sitges-Vilanova Roundabout, with flags and slogans. Ends at Cala de l’Home Mort.
Important: wear sneakers, sports and comfortable clothing. If you have the fuchsia CSL t-shirt, wear it! Swim at Cala de l’Home Mort and return.
Distance: 6 km approx.
Aimed at everyone (children, young people, adults...)

- Workshop “Sexual Self-Esteem for Everyone”
Time: 11:00 - 13:00
Location: Casal de la gent gran Joan Maragall
Experiential workshop on sexploration of desire and care between dissident bodies
Aimed at: people from the LGBT+ community of any age (children, young people, adults...)

- Peaceful protest march

Location: from Plaça de l’Ajuntament to the Monument against homophobia (popularly known as the Pink Triangle)
Route: Carrer Major, Carrer Parellades, Primer de Maig, Passeig de la Ribera and Passeig Marítim ending at the Triangle Rosa (Passeig Marítim, 10)

- Institutional event
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Passeig Marítim 10
Reading of the Institutional Manifesto of the Generalitat de Catalunya and a floral offering by the council. Then...

- Open microphone
Open microphone session so that citizens and other entities can express themselves, read poems, sing. There will also be a symbolic space of remembrance for the victims of LGTBI-phobia, with candles and floral offerings.

Location: Moulin Rosé (c/ Bonaire, 13)
To close the day, come and see the finale of the Festival Eurovision with good company, festive atmosphere, giant screens and a drag queen as master of ceremonies.
