Sitges celebrates the Corpus Christi festival between June 15 and 29, declared a Heritage Festival of National Interest.

- SUNDAY, JUNE 15

 

3rd CORPUS DAY: “GIANTS AND CORPUS: A HISTORICAL LINK”

Folklorist and writer Amadeu Carbó will explain the link between giants and Corpus Christi and their historical evolution, highlighting the uniqueness of the Sitges Corpus Christi. The relationship and trajectory of the Giants of the Village, both old and new, with the Sitges Corpus Christi will then be explained.

We will end the event with a glass of cava for all attendees.

PRESENTATION OF THE REMODELLATION OF THE “NEW” TOWN GIANTS FOR THEIR 50TH ANNIVERSARY

The “new” Town Giants celebrate the 50th anniversary of their premiere for Corpus Christi. As then, they will appear in the Plaça de l’Ajuntament, remodeled and in new costumes and accompanied by the “old” Town Giants, to do some dancing together.

OPENING OF THE 85TH NATIONAL CARNATION EXHIBITION

In the gardens of the Hospital Sant Joan Baptista in Sitges, the inauguration of the National Carnation Exhibition. We will close the inauguration with a glass of malvasia, while visiting the carnations participating in the exhibition.

Declamation of the Carvell Call, which will be given by Roser Forgas i Sampedro, crier of Corpus 2025.

OPENING OF THE 85th NATIONAL CARNATION EXHIBITION

Gardens of the Hospital Sant Joan Baptista in Sitges

 

FAMILY WORKSHOP OF CORPUS. FLOWERS AND ART IN MUSEUMS.

A workshop where, from blank canvases, we will grow artistic colorful flowers that will be exhibited in Racó de la Calma.

Free activity. No reservation required.

Gegants de la Vila, Gegants Americanos and Gegants Moros.

FLOWERS, TRADITION AND FESTIVAL, GUIDED VISIT TO THE CARPETS AND OTHER SPACES OF THE CORPUS

By AGIS Guies de Sitges. After the visit, there is the possibility of joining in the making of a flower carpet.

At 10 p.m., departure from the gate of the gardens of the Sociedad Recreativa el Retiro along Carrer d'Àngel Vidal.

 

START PAINTING OF THE CARPETS DESIGNS IN THE STREETS OF THE VILLAGE AND CARVING OF CARVINGS

The artists of each carpet paint the drawing on the ground. At the same time, the flowers are cut and prepared to make the carpet, participation is open to everyone.

MAKING OF FLOWER CARPETS IN VARIOUS STREETS OF THE TOWN

Participation is open to everyone. From dawn to noon

 

CHOCOLATE DRINK and CHILDREN'S ACTIVITY: SUPER BUBBLES

Once the carpets are finished, there will be a chocolate drink for all the children who have participated in their production. There will also be the Super Bubbles activity, which will consist of creating giant soap bubbles.

SOLEMNITY OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST (CORPUS CHRISTI)

Celebration of the Eucharist on Corpus Christi Day:

At 9:00, 11:00 (in Spanish) and 12:30 at the church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla.

At 11:00 at the church of Sant Joan Baptista.

At the church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, Solemn exhibition of the Custody, in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament from 10:00 until the end of the Eucharist at 12:30 for prayer and adoration.

PROCESSION OF CORPUS WITH THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

The banner of Minerva will be carried by Mrs. Montserrat Mirabent Baqués, accompanied as cordoners by Xavier Vinyals Mirabent and Sara Vinyals Mirabent.

Route: Plaça del Baluard, Mirador Miquel Utrillo, Racó de la Calma, Fonollar, Sant Joan, Davallada, Barcelona, Santiago Rusiñol, Jesús, Cap de la Vila, Parellades, Bonaire, Passeig de la Ribera, Sant Pau, Parellades, Cap de la Vila, Mayor, Plaça de l'Ajuntament and Plaça del Baluard.

 

FINAL BALL AND CORPUS REFRESHMENT

After the procession, the 4 pairs of giants will accompany the authorities to the City Hall to perform the traditional final dance of the giants in the square.

At the end, the Sitges City Hall will offer the traditional “Corpus Christi Refreshment” open to everyone.

 

- FRIDAY, JUNE 27

EXHIBITION OF THE 9th CORPUS PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST ON INSTAGRAM. OPENING: At 7 p.m., Janio’s Bar. Plaça del Cap de la Vila, 3.

EXHIBITION DATES: From June 27 to July 27. The awards will be presented as part of the Closing Ceremony of Corpus 2025.

 

- SATURDAY, JUNE 28

 

VISIT OF THE JURY OF THE 65TH FACADE, BALCONIES AND WINDOWS COMPETITION

From 11 am

Through the streets of the center of Sitges, the jury, accompanied by the music of Apocadixie, will visit the participating facades, balconies and windows to evaluate them. The verdict will be known as part of the Closing Ceremony of Corpus 2025

 

- SUNDAY, JUNE 29

 

OFFICIAL AWARDS AND CLOSING CEREMONY OF CORPUS 2025

At 7:30 pm

Gardens of the Hospital Sant Joan Baptista in Sitges.

Once the Closing Ceremony is over, gather at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Vinyet to make the traditional collective offering of carnations to the Virgin. The train will take us to Vinyet, while enjoying the music of the Apocadixie.
