Start: 14/11/2025Sitges is preparing for two days full of culture, music, and fun activities as part of Correllengua 2025, a campaign that promotes the social use of the Catalan language. This year’s edition pays tribute to Mercè Rodoreda, one of the most influential and widely read Catalan writers internationally. The event is organized by the Coordinadora d’Associacions per la Llengua Catalana (CAL), with the support of the Sitges Town Hall and various local organizations.
Activities Program:
Friday, November 14
7:00 PM – Opening Lecture:
“The Thread of Mercè Rodoreda’s Flowers: 50 Years of Mirall Trencat” by Vinca Albert, specialist in Rodoreda’s work. Location: Grup d’Estudis Sitgetans.
Sunday, November 16
11:00 AM – Giant Scrabble:
Open games for the public, organized by Òmnium Cultural and the International Catalan Scrabble Federation. Location: La Fragata.
12:00 PM – Language Parade (Cercavila):
Route along Passeig de la Ribera, Carrer del Primer de Maig, Plaça de la Indústria, Carrer del Marquès de Mont-roig, and Carrer de les Parellades, ending at Cap de la Vila. Music by BKT BrassBand (Plataforma per la Llengua).
12:00 PM – Sardana Dance at Cap de la Vila:
Led by La Cobla Sitgetana, with collaboration from Amics de la Sardana de Sitges.
1:00 PM – Main Event:
Lighting of the traditional Flama and reading of the Correllengua Manifest at Cap de la Vila.
5:30 PM – Family Show:
“Stories and Flowers of Mercè Rodoreda” with Assumpta Mercader and Mireia Córdoba. Organized by the Assemblea Nacional Catalana. Free entry. Location: El Retiro.
7:15 PM – Catalan Karaoke:
Organized by Treu la llengua de l’armari at 7 Lounge Bar.
Tribute to Mercè Rodoreda:
The homage continues until January, when the Cercle Artístic de Sitges will organize an exhibition about the author at the Santiago Rusiñol Library.
